A PhD student at the University of Dundee has won a top prize in an international engineering competition.
Aneel Gill from Monifieth took second place in the Institute of Mechanical Engineer’s prize for the best student project involving the design or development of a medical device.
The 22-year-old postgraduate student in the Medical Engineering Research Institute at the university won a certificate and £50 of book vouchers for his project involving the design of an artificial sensory hand for use in developing treatment of Raynaud’s phenomenon.
The condition is a disorder which affects the blood vessels mainly in the body’s extremities.
"I’m delighted to have got so far in the competition," said the former Dundee High School pupil. "It shows I’m on the right track and it is a real confidence boost."
